Pocono Garlic Festival

Congratulations John Pezzino who posted his Mother's 40 Clove Shrimp Dish on the Pocono Garlic Festival FB page, was chosen as the Mothers Day recipe winner.

John Pezzino explained, "we call it shrimp 40 and rice you start by chopping 40 cloves of garlic, then peeling and devaining 2 pounds of medium shrimp. in a large fry pan heat at least a 1/2 cup of evoo over medium heat then add the chopped 40 cloves of garlic let simmer of about 3 to 4 minutes then add shrimp raise heat add to taste salt and pepper and about a half teaspoon of chili powder, sprinkle with chopped fresh celontro about a minute before shrimp is done add 2 tables spoons of butter. at the same time cook spanish yellow rice acording to the package. enjoy"

garlic is slowly rising from its dorment slumber

Its hard to believe, but we our in the 19th season of the Pocono Garlic Festival.
Although spring has barely sprung here in north eastern Pennsylvania the garlic is slowly rising from its dorment slumber. Awaiting the chance to spring as summer longer warmer days approach us. All of us who make the garlic festival have also rose from our winter hibernation and began the planning process of the beloved event.
Currently the application process has begun. Starting in February we approach returning vendors, farmers and artists. As of April first, notably April Fools Day, we post festival application on line for anyone else who like to apply. Believe or not, we are almost filled up on vendors for 2013.
Although we are still actively seeking more, if you think you have the garlic gumption to be part of the festival please apply @ poconogarlic.com

The more garlic the more merrier!!

Also April is a good month because April 19th is National Garlic Day.... hope you celebrated with gobs and gobs of garlic...

Mothers Day is this Sunday, the Pocono Garlic Festival will be giving somebody's mom a pair of tickets to enjoy herself.
